One of the greatest advantages of natural wool lies in its ability to regenerate itself. Unlike other materials that require frequent washing or special treatments, wool has remarkable self-cleaning properties. When properly cared for, it maintains its appearance, softness, and technical qualities for many years.
Wool naturally repels dirt, moisture, and odors thanks to the structure of its fibers and the presence of lanolin — a natural wax that acts as a protective barrier. This greatly reduces the need for washing while ensuring excellent hygiene on a daily basis.
For routine care, simply shake the product outside or let it air out in a dry place, ideally away from direct sunlight. This simple gesture refreshes the fibers and removes surface particles. If there’s pet hair, a gentle brushing with a cachemire comb (like the one provided with our products) will easily remove it while restoring volume to the wool.
In case of a stain, we recommend spot-cleaning with a damp cloth, a little cold water, and mild soap — avoiding vigorous rubbing. Wool doesn’t react well to hot water or harsh chemicals. Always dry flat at room temperature, away from any direct heat source.
We strongly advise against machine washing your MATT, as it may compromise its shape, texture, and long-term durability. Mechanical agitation, combined with hot water and detergents, can cause felting, distortion, or even irreversible shrinkage. To preserve the structure and natural qualities of the bed, always opt for gentle, manual spot-cleaning.
Choosing a wool product means embracing a living material that’s easy to care for with softness and intention — while maintaining its beauty and function over time. It’s a thoughtful gesture in line with a sustainable lifestyle that respects your pet, your home, and the environment.
